Selene Almeron is a cinematographer and colorist based in Brooklyn and Metro Manila. Her passion for photography began at a young age, when her older sister first taught her how to use a DSLR camera. What started as curiosity soon evolved into a deep interest in cinema, leading her to pursue filmmaking in college, where she honed her skills both behind the camera and in post-production.
In 2018, she was invited to the MOWELFUND Advanced Cinematography Masterclass in Manila, and later participated in the 2019 Summer Filmmaking Program at FAMU in Prague. That same year, she shot her undergraduate thesis film, Balai (Home), which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 67th FAMAS Awards. The film was also an official selection at the Melbourne Short Film Festival (2019), Nepal International Film Festival (2020), and Gawad Alternatibo Film Festival (2021).
Since then, Selene has worked as a cinematographer and colorist on projects that have screened in film festivals and art exhibitions worldwide. She gravitates toward stories that explore queerness, grief, spirituality, and complex family and friendship dynamics, and is deeply committed to collaboration from pre-production through post.
Her most recent work, Dagat ng Alingawngaw (Sea of Echoes) (2026), will have its world premiere at the 61st Venice Biennale, presented in the Philippine Pavilion at the Arsenale (May 9–November 22, 2026).
Selene earned her MFA in Cinematography from the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema at Brooklyn College in May 2025. She is an Associate Member of the Colorist Society and works as a freelance cinematographer, colorist, assistant camera, and camera operator across film, television, and advertising.
